A Total Eclipse of My Heart (and Stomach)

I’m excited for the solar eclipse.

To this point, it’s only been viewable from the U.S. one other time in my life, and who knows when it will be again.

(Editor’s note: Some quick research reveals the next one should occur in 2024.)

But what I’m really excited about is what the solar eclipse is bringing us:

Chocolate Krispy Kreme donuts.

In honor of this celestial phenomenon, from Aug. 19–21, the company is transforming its traditional glaze into chocolate glaze.

Heaven help me.

From fried chicken to cheeseburgers, there are plenty of delicacies I covet, even crave.

But there are few I dream about.

My grandmother’s brownies are one of them.

Krispy Kreme donuts are another.

With each bite, my mind is filled with one word:

Unfair.

It’s unfair that anything I can’t enjoy regularly is allowed to taste this good.

And now they’re going to be infused with chocolate?

I’m in.
