BRENT STOLLER

A hopeful, (sometimes) humorous take on the traumas of infertility and pregnancy loss.

Why You Should Stay in Bed

Yesterday, I slept in.

I rarely get to sleep in on Sunday mornings, because Sunday mornings are for playing golf with my father.

That’s a tradition I treasure and look forward to each week. Not only do I love being on the golf course, I appreciate the time spent alongside my dad.

Our outings have always been special, dating back to my pre-teen days. But as we both get older, I become that much more aware that we have a finite amount of outings left.

Yesterday, however, he had a prior obligation, so there was no tee time.

Instead, I got to wake up early and go back to sleep (one of my favorite pastimes), watch a couple “House Hunters: Renovations” on DVR and stay in bed well past dawn.

And best of all, I got to do this alongside a person I usually don’t see until Sunday afternoon, someone with whom I’m always happy to add to our finite amount of remaining outings:

My wife.
